Ordering & Payment

How do I place an Order?

For smaller / simpler works, typically on paper

Smaller works and works on paper (essentially those where shipping is relatively straightforward) have an “Add to basket” button on the work’s individual page.

This adds the work to the site shopping cart — accessible from the navigation at both the top and foot of each page. From this cart, you can check out in a typical e-commerce fashion.

If you are uncomfortable purchasing this way, or, if there are no shipping options available for your address, use the “Enquire about this work” link and we can discuss the options available.

For larger, delicate or more complicated works

Shipping is more involved for these works, therefore there is no “add to cart and checkout” option. Instead, use the “Enquire about this work” link and we can discuss options available, specific to the work and your location.

What is included?

The chosen piece of work (obviously) signed and dated — typically on the reverse.

A “Certificate of Authenticity” — a signed and dated document, with an image and details of the work.

Do I need an account to place an order?

No. If buying directly through the site, you can checkout without creating or needing an account (although you can log in to use an account if you have one, and you can create an account while checking out).

How do I know the status of my order?

You will receive an email with information about your order status and also an email from the delivery company with all details of your shipment.

If you create an account, your order details and status will be accessible there.

What payment methods are accepted?

Payment can be made by credit card through Stripe, PayPal and depending on your device Apple Pay or Google Pay. Payments are taken in British Pounds. We don’t store any card details. For eligible customers, PayPal offers a “Pay Later” option.

There is also an option for paying by bank transfer if you prefer. If paying this way, please pay promptly.

Once the payment has been received the work can be shipped.

Can I buy your artwork outside the online shop?

Yes — use the “Enquire about this work” (or just send an email with the name of the work) and if you prefer we can organise purchase ‘off-site’.

Can I commission work?

Yes — after a fashion. I can attempt to create a dedicated artwork for you, based on your initial input, however, I should be clear that my paintings often end up a long way visually from their starting point before they ‘work’.

If you wanted to commission a piece of a different size/dimensions to my usual work, I’ll ask for a 20%, non-refundable deposit.

Once the work is complete, typically in 4–6 weeks, I’ll send some pictures. If you decide you like the piece we can then go through the usual process for (completing) payment; otherwise, if I’m happy with it, I may then add to the work available on the site.

Please write an email or send me a message on the contact page if you are interested in commissioning a piece.

Shipping

Where do you ship to?

Everywhere*

Currently, there are only pre-calculated costs for smaller works, shipped to the UK, EU and North America, however, if you want to purchase a larger work or ship to a different location, use the “Enquire about this work” link and we can discuss options available.

* When I say everywhere, there are probably places that it’s tricky for me to organise shipping to — North Korea, for example — I’ll check, but I can’t always guarantee I can ship

What methods are available?

Pre-calculated shipping to the UK and EU is via MaltaPost Express International (which uses a combo of TNT and FedEx for actual delivery).

Pre-calculated shipping to North America is via Eurosender which then uses the likes of DPD, UPS, DHL etc depending on the delivery location.

For larger work or for shipping to other locations, I’ll work out the most efficient and cost-effective shipping route specific to you.

If you happen to live in Malta, you should also have to option to collect work for free.

What are the costs?

The shipping cost depends on the size and quantity of items, as well as the delivery location.

For smaller/simpler works, the shipping is calculated during the checkout. For larger works, I’ll calculate the best option based on your location.

Depending on the location, there might also be customs costs — see below for more information.

How long does it take?

Again, this depends on the location being shipped to. The work will typically be packed and shipped within 3 working days — while most shipping options claim timings within 7 days for delivery, realistically I’d allow at least 14 days, maybe longer depending on local customs controls.

If you need the work by a specific date, please let me know and I’ll see if there are other options that mean the work can reach you in time.

I’ll share a tracking number with you as soon as I dispatch the work, so you can check the progress for yourself.

Customs & Taxes

What customs charges or tax is there to pay?

Shipments may be subject to import duties and taxes according to the laws of the destination country – we have no control over these charges and accept no responsibility for additional charges.

As I’m currently based in, and will be shipping work from, Malta, there should be nothing to pay in the EU. There will be approx 18% VAT to pay on shipments to the UK — however, as I’m a UK citizen and UK-based business, and this is a result of my ‘sabbatical’, I’ll pay this — a discount will be applied at checkout that should roughly cover this cost.

Charges are very varied across the rest of the globe, so I’m not able to give guidance to the costs in other locations, but you may be able to calculate using this tool https://www.simplyduty.com/import-calculator/

How do I pay & when?

How and when to pay varies by country, so I’m unable to specific instructions. I suggest searching for information online about your destination country’s requirements. As part of the shipping process, I’ll be filling out a customs manifest, which should provide all the information required, but my experience has been that the recipient can still be asked to provide it too.
